Sexual and Reproductive Health Committee Member 2023-2024, Sexual and Reproductive Health Committee Co-Lead 2024-2026
I joined JCC when I was a freshman and this clinic has allowed me to become a strong leader, communicator, and fostered my passion for nursing. JCC gave me opportunities that I didn't ever know existed and even beyond professional development, I've met some of the kindest and most thoughtful people in this clinic and we truly are like a family. JCC played a huge role in my nursing applications and probably was one of the driving reasons why I got accepted into my nursing school. The opportunities to learn, grow, and serve the community was so valuable to my applications and I'm glad I got to highlight my work at JCC in them.

Mental Health Committee Member 2025-2026
JCC has been much more than a student clinic to me. It has been a place where I could explore my passion for healthcare while serving the community. Through JCC, I have had the opportunity to learn from patients, peers, and healthcare professionals while developing valuable clinical, communication, and teamwork skills. It provided a supportive environment where I could grow both personally and professionally, gain confidence in interacting with patients, and better understand the importance of compassionate, patient-centered care. JCC has had a significant impact on my undergraduate journey by giving me meaningful hands-on experience in healthcare and helping me confirm my interest in pursuing a health-related career. Through working with diverse patients and collaborating with other student volunteers, I learned the importance of empathy, cultural humility, and advocacy in healthcare. The experiences I gained strengthened my leadership, communication, and critical-thinking skills while helping me build lasting friendships and professional connections. As I move into my post-graduate goals, I know the lessons and experiences from JCC will continue to shape the way I approach patient care and community service, reminding me to always prioritize compassion, respect, and equity in healthcare.

JCC impacted me in various ways but it showed me most importantly that impact no matter how big or small is impact nonetheless and with such a committed and amazing group of members JCC has the power to do amazing things as a whole. To me JCC brings hope, excitement, and motivation to make meaningful change for communities and individuals. It connected me with peers who shared the same love for health education and filling gaps in underserved communities that I did. I made some of my closest friends through JCC who support me no matter what my goals may be!

Mental Health Committee Member (2022-2023) Mental Health Lead (2023-2025) President (2024-2025)
When I first joined JCC, it was because I wanted to be part of a group of people who were passionate about meaningful work, and from the very beginning, that is exactly what it was for me. I knew I had a strong interest in working with individuals and was looking for a way to get involved in something that felt purposeful and impactful. Even through the challenges of our first year, I saw potential in the clinic. There were moments of uncertainty and setbacks, but what stood out to me was the commitment of the people involved and the intention behind everything we were trying to build. That made me want to stay and invest my time in a space where I knew there would be growth not just for the organization, but for myself as well. JCC became a space where I learned how to show up for others, how to stay committed even when things did not go as planned, and how to be part of something bigger than myself. It also taught me leadership in a very real and hands on way, while giving me friendships and connections that I will truly cherish. Looking back, being part of JCC was shaped the way I think about service, about healthcare, and about the kind of impact I want to have moving forward. Being part of something that was still growing and evolving meant that every step felt intentional. Even when progress was slow or uncertain, the process itself was meaningful. Contributing to the development of JCC taught me that impact is not always immediate or visible, but it is built through consistency, patience, and showing up. Throughout undergrad, JCC gave me a space to explore and deepen my passion for working with individuals and engaging in community centered care. It pushed me to think more critically about accessibility, prevention, and the broader systems that shape health outcomes. Rather than just learning about these ideas in a classroom, I was actively involved in trying to address them, which made the experience far more impactful.
It also strengthened my confidence in taking initiative, navigating uncertainty, and continuing to invest in spaces where growth takes time. Overall, JCC was not just about the outcomes we achieved, but about the process of building, learning, and persisting. That process ultimately reinforced my passions and continues to influence the way I approach my work and future goals.

Mental health committee member 2023-2024, Mental Health Co-Lead 2024-2025
JCC meant to me to find a way to help those in need before handing them a cure. It meant to educate individuals about how important it is to keep all aspects of your life and health to the best you can. JCC solidified my love and passion to help children in healthcare. It also made me want to pursue pediatrics as a health career. JCC had an integral part in my undergraduate career by helping me become a leader and also to help educate individuals about how to be healthy and to take care of your mental and physical health.

Co President 2023-2024, Mental Health Committee Lead 2022-2023
Juvenile Caduceus Clinic began as a passion project of mine to further pursue health advocacy after experiencing the failures of our healthcare system as a person living with chronic illness. Our work has been instrumental in fueling my aspirations to advocate for and represent patients as I pursue my goal of becoming a medical malpractice attorney. The experiences and insights gained have strengthened my commitment to ensuring that individuals receive the best possible care and promoting preventative practices. It's an honor to serve our communities through our collective efforts and nurture the growth of future healthcare professionals. When creating JCC, my studies greatly influenced the direction I wanted our organization to take, as I applied what I learned in my undergrad journey into practice. Centering care for those who are vulnerable and leaning into advocacy work inspired me to pursue the same path during my gap years and will continue to shape my aspirations to practice law.

Sexual and Reproductive Health Committee Member 2023-2024
The JCC was the one on-campus organization that connected me to likeminded peers at UC Davis who also wanted to give back to the community. The introduction to my personal statement for this upcoming dental school application cycle includes an event I attended that hosted by the JCC. I genuinely would have never discovered my interest in dentistry had I not joined this clinic.
